Andrew Bigelow: Exclusive Interview

Flipwhip by Andrew Bigelow / Pic by Joel PilotteCanadian rider Andrew Bigelow has been a well respected shredder for a while. Which is amazing considering he is only 20 years old. Andrew stands a good chance of winning any event he enters with tons of tricks and always done at crazy altitudes. For the new season Andrew also has new sponsors! He will be on Banshee frames this year and rolling on Geax Tires. We caught up with Andrew recently to talk about riding and his plans for 2011...

Age: 20 years old born March 14, 1991

Where do you live: Ingersoll, Ontario up here in Canada.

How many years have you been riding: I was always riding since a little kid but just noticed a bigger interest in it 6 years ago.

What got you into riding: I was a loser and started rollerblading first, then I saw alot of kids at the bike park riding and they let me try one of
there bikes and I was hooked since.

What keeps you motivated to ride and progress: As long as my bike is running smoothly i'm always happy. The mindstate that riding can bring me to is crazy.
When I get on my bike anything that is bothering me that day goes away. Progression is always sick but when I get my heart pumpin I know I'm doing something right, and you know there is something new that can be done so it never gets boring.

What is the best part of riding:  Best part of riding for me would have to be the feeling after landing the
trick or line that was standing out in your mind for a while. Meeting new people is always sick too.

Any major changes in your bike and gear for 2011: For 2011 I actually have some big changes to my bike as I'll
be riding Banshee frames on top of Geax tires. Also my bikes will be filled with Cromag parts so I'm pretty pumped on my bikes this year.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2011: For this year I have some big plans for myself like starting to enter a few slopestyle contests like Claymore Challenge,
Goatstyle and maybe Crankworx Colorado. If I could make qualifying and stay healthy in the events I'd be pumped.

What event(s) are you looking forward to the most this year: Im pretty stoked to be a part of the Claymore challenge but i'm also trying to hit up Goatstyle this
year and I'm hoping that goes well.

Favorite riding Spot(s): Woodward camp (west or east) would have to be one of my favorite spots! good people, good vibes and good times.

Favorite person(s) to ride with: Being from such a small town It's sometimes hard to find solid dudes to ride with. I usually stick with Paul and Derek.
There is also the Joyride crew like Mike Gray, Brett Rheeder and Brayden Barrett-Hay that kill It but I'm down to ride with whoever is having fun.

Do you ride with headphones? What do you listen to: I usually dont have headphones unless im really trying to put on! It would prolly have to be some kind
of weird techno/dance, metal or some oldies. Sad sad city by Ghostland Observatory probably does it for me the most though.

Any last words, thoughts or shout outs: When I think about it, it seems not too long ago I was just getting my first bike. Watching all the big pros on the tv wishing to be there one day. Knowing I still having a lot further to go. It's crazy to think how far you can get just having fun riding your bike. First off big thanks to plussizebmx.com for doing this interview. I would'nt have been able to do any of it without the help of Brandon and the staff at To Wheels bike shop. My mom for being my biggest supporter and helping me out as much as she can. Chad and the guys at Index ink for always helping me out and keeping me swavey'. Big thanks to all of my other sponsors for keeping me rollin' and for all the guys i usually ride with that are always making things interesting.

And now for a couple edits from Mr. Andrew Bigelow. He is working on new edits with his new sponsors and we will be posting them as soon as they are released...
