Woodward West MTB Weekend
We all had such a great time at Woodward West over Thanksgiving. The weather gave us a little cold and quite a bit of wind. But not so much as to keep us hidden indoors. We got some quality time on the hill and when the sun died down we all headed into the Hanger for the night. Check out more below...
The rider list was a pretty varied bunch from Pro riders (James Visser, Kevin Sorichetti, Jake Kinney, Tim Gooden) to young kids like 10 year old Tucker you see in the edit. And then everyone else in between. The best part of the design behind the hill, and Woodward West in general, is there is something for everyone. The Hill has a really fun jump line that starts at the Lodge and winds it's way down to the base of the step up. You will also find the massive Zack Dank built trails on the hill. Which are more then challenging even for seasoned pro's. It was so sick seeing the guys session the huge hip. Which I think is the coolest part of the line. Tim's tuck no hander on it was dialed.
The Hanger indoor park was the home of our late night sessions. It stayed open until 11 each night. The foam pit was definitely the most heavily sessioned feature. Some good 'street' riding was also going down in the Art Park. Former ColoRADo resident Patrick Thomas could be found over their most of the time. Black Market rider Kevin Sorichetti was throwing some crazy looking stuff into foam. Can't wait to see what he has in store. And no one has the Hanger more dialed on a 26" bike than Jake. He always has an angle or a line no one else had thought of. And hits it with serious boost. The monday after we left The Hanger started getting a face lift and redesign. The plans are top secret so we will have to wait and see what Nate Wessel and his crew come up with.
All in all it was a great way to spend a weekend. Huge thanks goes out to Jake Kinney from Woodward West for putting the MTB weekend on. He has definite plans for more events of this nature as well as some contests in the future. The hill will also be expanding as time and resources allow. And now enjoy a Video we shot this last year at Woodward with Jon Faure when he became the oldest rider to jump the Mega Ramp...
