Had my first session on this beast today. A little heavier then my last bike. But it didnt feel like it. The geometry fits me perfectly. I wanted something with a steeper head angle then my Eastern. The Transition definitely has that. I am working on a more complete review and personal edit with me and my new DMR. So stay tuned......Hooray Bikes!!!

What is up with that brake?

That's one super low BB. You should run a proper size fork. I bet it feels really tough to pull up on this.

whats the bb height on that frame with the rigid forks? -ve or +ve?

October 1, 2010 | Unregistered Commentertoby

The BB is at 11.25". (28.5cm) It is taking some getting used to. I find it easier to hop into manuals. I am going to take another link or two out and try to shorten the back more. See if that effects it much. Don't think its bad just different.
Martin - I knew that would be the first thing you noticed...lol SInce I am riding park way more then street I added the brake. I like being able to adjust speed quickly between hits. For street brakeless is still the best. And it has improved my tire slides...lol

only thing about my transition that i like is that its realy easy to table haha

I'm going to guess that the frame has an 11.25" bottom bracket when it has a 465 mm (80mm) travel fork on it. That's what most bikes are designed around if I remember right. That way you can run a suspension fork. I think the trailblade fork is 325mm so that would explain why the bottom bracket looks so low. I thought those forks were made for 24" bikes. It looks like you have a bunch of spacers on there to compensate. I used to do that with my old NS that I had. It helps a little, but looks funky.

I measured the 11.25 from the floor to the bottom of the BB as it sits. Axle to crown on the Trailblade is 440mm. So it definitely sits a little low. Thats a 25mm difference from a 80mm fork. I am considering trying out a sus fork. Just don't have one currently.

440mm is pretty long for a rigid fork (Rebate is 425, Tchokr is 435, Tech9 is 395/405 etc). Wow if you also put on suspension on your bike you'd need to post a pic of you with your bike or else I'll think that someone hacked your account and is trying to fool us! :)

HAHA...good point Martin. I would be willing to try it. But I will always prefer rigid. The whole brake thing is change enough for now...lol
